The Minnesota Timberwolves have traded Trenton Hassell to the Mavericks for Greg Buckner.  The T-Wolves likely made this trade because Buckner will require less playing time than Buckner will and the T-Wolves want to give the big minutes to the kids this season.  Buckner has played in 476 games (113 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 20.0 minutes, 5.5 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game.  He’s a little better shooter than Hassell as he has hit 45.8% of his shots from the floor, 34.3% from three point range and 75% from the free throw line over his NBA career.  But he is nowhere near as good of a defensive player as Hassell is.

The Timberwolves have signed F/C John Edwards to a 1-year contract.  Edwards did not play in the NBA last season but the T-Wolves like his size as he is 7′0″, 275 pounds.  He has played in 65 NBA games (5 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 6.7 minutes, 1.5 points, 1.0 rebound and 0.1 assists per game.  He has shot 44.7% from the floor and 60% from the free throw line.  Don’t look for the T-Wolves to play Edwards much if he even makes their final roster.
