The Minnesota Timberwolves waive John Edwards

Blogged under Uncategorized by alleyoop on Friday 26 October 2007 at 12:38 pm

The T-Wolves just had too many players on their roster to justify keeping Edwards. Edwards only played in 1 pre-season game and he played 7 minutes without scoring or grabbing a rebound. Don’t expect the T-Wolves to lose any sleep by losing Edwards.

The Minnesota Timberwolves trade Ricky Davis and Mark Blount to Miami

Blogged under Uncategorized by alleyoop on Friday 26 October 2007 at 12:36 pm

The Timberwolves got absolutely screwed in this trade. They traded Ricky Davis and Mark Blount and all they got in return was Antoine Walker, Michael Doleac, Wayne Simien and a conditional first round draft choice. Antoine Walker could help the T-Wolves if he’s focused on the job at hand. He fell out of favor with Pat Riley in Miami due to his conditioning and if he doesn’t get in better shape his play on the court will continue to decline. He played in 78 games (15 starts) last season for the T-Wolves and he averaged 23.3 minutes, 8.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. His shooting was also way off as he only hit 39.7% from the floor, 27.5% from three point range and 43.8% from the free throw line. The Timberwolves would be happy with Walker if he played up to his career norms. He has played in 847 games (706 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 36.2 minutes, 18.0 points, 7.9 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.2 steals per game. He likes to think of himself as a great shooter by the numbers don’t back him up on that as he has hit 41.5% from the floor, 32.5% from three point range and 63.5% from the free throw line in his career. Michael Doleac will back up Theo Ratliff at center for the T-Wolves. He played in 56 games (0 starts) last season for the Heat and he averaged 12.5 minutes, 3.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. Doleac has been a backup for most of his career as he’s played in 563 games (76 starts) and he’s averaged 15.2 minutes, 5.0 points, 3.4 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. Wayne Simien is a talented player but he’s had serious injury issues in his NBA career to date. He only played in 8 games (0 starts) last season for the Heat and he averaged 11.6 minutes, 2.9 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game. Simien has never gotten much of a chance to prove what he could do in Miami. In his two seasons in the NBA, Simien has played in 51 games (2 starts) and he’s averaged 9.9 minutes, 3.3 points, 1.9 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game. The Timberwolves really didn’t want Walker back in this trade but they got the Heat to throw in a first round pick to take him.
