The Minnesota Timberwolves take advantage of the 76ers in a trade

Blogged under General, Comings & Goings, Bloglockers, Big Timberwolves News, Front Page by alleyoop on Wednesday 9 July 2008 at 8:10 am

The 76ers wanted to clear salary cap space so that they could sign free agent Elton Brand and the T-Wolves agreed to help them out…..at a price. The Timberwolves have acquired G/F Rodney Carney, C Calvin Booth and a future 1st round pick for a future 2nd round pick. Rodney Carney is a 6′7″, 204 pound swing man who can handle either small forward or shooting guard. The 24-year old Carney played in 70 games (6 starts) for the 76ers and he averaged 14.8 minutes, 6.6 points, 1.9 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. Carney has now played in 137 games (41 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 16.1 minutes, 6.2 points, 2.0 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. Carney should be able to work his way into the playing rotation for the T-Wolves this season. Calvin Booth is a 32-year old center. He is 6′11″, 250 pounds but he plays soft and probably will have a hard time making the T-Wolves roster. He played in 31 games (0 starts) for the Sixers last season and he averaged 6.6 minutes, 0.8 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game. He has now played in 358 games (83 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 12.3 minutes, 3.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.4 assists. The kicker for the T-Wolves was getting a future 1st round pick for a future 2nd round pick which is always a great move.
