The Minnesota Timberwolves acquire Quentin Richardson from the Clippers

The Timberwolves have acquired 29-year old SG/SF Quentin Richardson from the Clippers for 24-year old point guard Sebastian Telfair, 25-year old power forward Craig Smith and 33-year old power forward Mark Madsen. Richardson played in 72 games (51 starts) for the Knicks last season and he averaged 26.3 minutes, 10.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. He has now played in 601 games (389 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 28.0 minutes, 11.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. Richardson was probably the best player involved in this trade so the Timberwolves took quality over quantity.

Sebastian Telfair played in 75 games (43 starts) for the T-Wolves last year and he averaged 27.9 minutes, 9.8 points, 1.7 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.0 steal per game. Telfair only shot 38.3% from the floor and that’s part of the reason the T-Wolves drafted heavily in point guards last month. Craig Smith played in 74 games (31 starts) last season for the Timberwolves and he averaged 19.7 minutes, 10.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. He does have a nice upside and he could come back to haunt the Wolves if he ever gets a starting gig. Mark Madsen is the 12th man. He played in only 19 games (1 start) for the Wolves last season and he averaged 6.1 minutes, 0.3 points, 0.9 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game. He has no upside.
