You can’t blame Al Jefferson for the Minnesota Timberwolves poor play

Blogged under General, NBA Blogs, Bloglockers, Big Timberwolves News, Steppin Up by Andrew on Monday 29 March 2010 at 12:10 am

The Minnesota Timberwolves have had an embarrassing season this year, and are in dead last in the Western Conference with a 14-60 record.  After having a nice four-game winning streak in early February, the Timberwolves have gone on to lose 15 straight and 21 of their last 22 games.  One guy you can’t blame for their losing ways is their center, Al Jefferson.  The big man is averaging 17.4 points, 9.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.2 blocks, and 0.9 steals while shooting 50% from the field.  Those numbers are a drop-off from his numbers the past two seasons, but with very little help around him in Minnesota it’s understandable.  Jefferson has been a fantasy basketball gold mine, but unfortunately for Timberwolves’ fans that doesn’t mean much since they are the worst team in the Western Conference.

Darko Milicic is playing o.k. for the Minnesota Timberwolves this season

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 25 March 2010 at 1:39 pm

Darko Milicic has played decent basketball since coming over from the Knicks. Milicic has played in 15 games (9 starts) for the Timberwolves this season and he is averaging 23.7 minutes, 6.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.2 blocked shots. He is also shooting 52.3% from the floor this season for the T-Wolves. Milicic is playing pretty decent but the T-Wolves really should be giving most of his minutes to Kevin Love.

The Minnesota Timberwolves need to play Kevin Love more

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 25 March 2010 at 1:34 pm

If the T-Wolves wonder why they suck so bad all they have to do is look to the bench where Kevin Love is often sitting. He is a rebounding machine who should be starting and playing at least 35 minutes a night, but, for some reason he is in the T-Wolves’ Dog House. Love has played in 50 games (20 starts) this season for the T-Wolves and he is averaging 28.7 minutes, 14.4 points, 10.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. The Wolves need to play Love or if they don’t like him….trade him. But to keep him coming off the bench is REALLY STUPID!

The Minnesota Timberwolves re-sign Brian Cardinal

Blogged under General, Comings & Goings, Bloglockers, Big Timberwolves News, Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 23 March 2010 at 4:26 pm

The Timberwolves have re-signed 32-year old forward Brian Cardinal to a contract for the rest of the year. Cardinal has returned to the T-Wolves just a month after getting traded to the Knicks for Darko Milicic. Cardinal has played in 27 games (0 starts) for the Timberwolves this season in which he is averaging 9.0 minutes, 1.7 points, 0.9 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game. He has now played in 354 games (32 starts) in his NBA career in which he has averaged 15.7 minutes, 5.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. The Timberwolves like Cardinal as he is good in the clubhouse.

The Minnesota Timberwolves release Alando Tucker

Blogged under General, Comings & Goings, Bloglockers, Big Timberwolves News, Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 23 March 2010 at 9:02 am

The Timberwolves have released small forward Alando Tucker. Tucker played in 4 games (0 starts) for the T-Wolves this year after coming over from the Suns in a trade and he averaged 6.3 minutes, 2.0 points, 0.8 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game. The Timberwolves won’t miss Tucker at all.
