Anthony Tolliver is playing solid basketball off the bench for the Minnesota Timberwolves

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page, Injuries by alleyoop on Monday 29 November 2010 at 9:20 pm

25-year old power forward Anthony Tolliver is giving the T-Wolves solid production whenever Kevin Love needs a break. Tolliver has played in 17 games (0 starts) so far this year for the T-Wolves and he is averaging 19.8 minutes, 6.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. He has also been shooting really well from long range as he is 13 of 31 (41.9%) from behind the three point line. Tolliver has been a welcome addition to the Timberwolves so far this year and they hope he can keep up the good work.

UPDATE: (12/5/2010) - Anthony Tolliver is going to be out a while due to a sprained right MCL.

Sebastian Telfair is doing o.k. so far this year for the Minnesota Timberwolves

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 18 November 2010 at 4:32 pm

25-year old point guard Sebastian Telfair wasn’t expected to play much this season. But injuries to Luke Ridnour and Jonny Flynn opened up some P.T. for him and he’s doing a decent job. Telfair has played in 13 games (6 starts) for the T-Wolves so far this year and he is averaging 27.2 minutes, 9.8 points, 1.4 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. He will likely be back on the bench soon but with the T-Wolves playing well right now it doesn’t hurt to keep him in the starting lineup.

The rookies of the Minnesota Timberwolves have been so-so

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Rookie Reports, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 18 November 2010 at 4:29 pm

23-year old SG/SF Wesley Johnson, 25-year old center Nikola Pekovic and 24-year old forward Lazar Hayward are off to a so/so start for the T-Wolves this year. Johnson has earned his way into the starting lineup at shooting guard but his natural position is small forward as he plays his best ball closer to the basket. Johnson has played in 13 games (9 starts) so far this year for the Timberwolves and he is averaging 28.9 minutes, 9.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. He is only shooting 40.8% from the floor, 35.6% from three point range and 65.2% from the free throw line this year so he will need to improve all of those %’s as the year goes on. Nikola Pekovic has been decent so far this year for the T-Wolves. He has played in 10 games (0 starts) for the T-Wolves this year and he is averaging 13.4 minutes, 5.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game. Lazar Hayward hasn’t had much of a chance to show what he can do this year. He has played in 9 games (0 starts) for the T-Wolves this year and he is averaging 8.6 minutes, 1.9 points, 1.7 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game. Hayward is only shooting 13.6% (3 of 22) from the floor so far this year. He won’t see many minutes until his shooting improves.

Nikola Pekovic is going to miss some time for the Minnesota Timberwolves

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Front Page, Injuries by alleyoop on Wednesday 17 November 2010 at 5:54 pm

25-year old backup center Nikola Pekovic is going to miss the next week or two with a sprained ankle. Pekovic has played in 10 games (0 starts) for the T-Wolves so far this year and he is averaging 13.4 minutes, 5.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game. He’s playing pretty solid basketball so far behind Darko Milicic so the T-Wolves hope he gets better soon.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are getting great work from their young forwards

In the Timberwolves 112-103 win over the New York Knicks last Friday Night they had outstanding efforts by their young pair of starting forwards. 22-year old power forward Kevin Love played in 41 minutes in this game and he finished up with 31 points, 31 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 blocked shot. This was the first 30 point, 30 rebound game since Moses Malone did it in 1982! 21-year old small forward Michael Beasley finished up with 35 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 1 blocked shot in 41 minutes on Friday Night. He has played in 9 games for the T-Wolves so far this year and he is averaging 30.3 minutes, 20.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.0 steal per game. Love & Beasley are the guys the Timberwolves should build the team around.
