The Minnesota Timberwolves are suffering through another tough year as they are 13-43 on the season, which has them in last place in the Northwest. They are 23 games behind the Thunder. The Timberwolves have the worst record in the Western Conference and they are 17.5 games behind the Jazz & Grizzlies for the #8 spot in the playoffs. The T-Wolves don’t have a bad roster, it’s just that most of them are very young. So it’s no surprise that they have the worst record in the Conference. They are only 3 games ahead of the Cleveland Cavaliers for the worst record in the league.
BIGGEST SURPRISE: The Timberwolves knew that 22-year old power forward Kevin Love was going to be good. They just didn’t know that he was going to be an All-Star. Love has played in 56 games (all starts) for the T-Wolves so far this year and he is averaging 36.8 minutes, 21.1 points, 15.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. The shocking thing to me about Love’s game is his long range shooting. He is hitting a stunning 42.5% from three point range so far this year!
BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT: 22-year old Jonny Flynn started the season late due to hip surgery. He hasn’t looked like the same player he was last year as a rookie. Flynn has played in 30 games (8 starts) for the Timberwolves so far this year and he is averaging 19.7 minutes, 5.8 points, 1.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. He is only shooting 37.3% from the floor and 29.5% from three point range so far this year. If Flynn doesn’t get his act together soon, he’s going to be spending most nights watching Luke Ridnour on the floor at his position.
