The Timberwolves have signed 27-year old point guard J.J. Barea to a 4-year, $19 million dollar deal. Barea played in 81 games (2 starts) for the Mavericks last year and he averaged 20.6 minutes, 9.5 points, 2.0 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game. He has now played in 315 games (45 starts) in his first five years in the NBA and he is averaging 17.4 minutes, 7.1 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. J.J. Barea is a very solid basketball player as he brings energy to the basketball court. It will be interesting to see how head coach Rick Adelman will dole out the minutes between Ricky Rubio, J.J. Barea and Luke Ridnour at point guard this year.
