The Minnesota Timberwolves are getting great work from their young forwards

In the Timberwolves 112-103 win over the New York Knicks last Friday Night they had outstanding efforts by their young pair of starting forwards. 22-year old power forward Kevin Love played in 41 minutes in this game and he finished up with 31 points, 31 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 blocked shot. This was the first 30 point, 30 rebound game since Moses Malone did it in 1982! 21-year old small forward Michael Beasley finished up with 35 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 1 blocked shot in 41 minutes on Friday Night. He has played in 9 games for the T-Wolves so far this year and he is averaging 30.3 minutes, 20.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.0 steal per game. Love & Beasley are the guys the Timberwolves should build the team around.

The Minnesota Timberwolves sign Sundiata Gaines

Blogged under General, Comings & Goings, Bloglockers, Big Timberwolves News, Front Page by alleyoop on Friday 12 November 2010 at 8:43 pm

The Timberwolves have signed 24-year old point guard Sundiata Gaines. Gaines played in 32 games (0 starts) for the Jazz last season as a rookie and he averaged 6.8 minutes, 3.3 points, 0.9 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. He was a decent player for the Jazz last year when he got on the court, which wasn’t much. But with the T-Wolves he should have no problem getting some P.T. to show what he can do.

The Minnesota Timberwolves release Maurice Ager

Blogged under General, Comings & Goings, Bloglockers, Big Timberwolves News, Front Page by alleyoop on Friday 12 November 2010 at 8:39 pm

The Timberwolves have released 26-year old shooting guard Maurice Ager. Ager played in 4 games (0 starts) for the T-Wolves this year and he averaged 7.3 minutes, 3.8 points, 0.5 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game. Ager shot 54.5% from the floor and he was 3 of 4 from three point range for the Timberwolves. The Timberwolves wanted to go in a different direction which led to Ager’s release.

The Minnesota Timberwolves will be without Martell Webster for a while

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Big Timberwolves News, Front Page, Injuries by alleyoop on Tuesday 26 October 2010 at 4:41 pm

Starting shooting guard Martell Webster is out indefinitely due to recent minor back surgery which removed part of a herniated disc. That means the T-Wolves will be back to the same pair of SGs that they played last season, Corey Brewer & Wayne Ellington. The shocking part of this is that the T-Wolves appear to be leaning towards starting Ellington. Corey Brewer must have gotten someone mad at him as he is coming off the best season of his career.

The Minnesota Timberwolves sign Anthony Tolliver

Blogged under General, Comings & Goings, Bloglockers, Big Timberwolves News, Front Page by alleyoop on Friday 6 August 2010 at 6:37 pm

The Timberwolves have signed 25-year old PF/C Anthony Tolliver to a 2-year, $4.8 million dollar deal. Tolliver played in 46 games (29 starts) for the Blazers & Warriors last season and he averaged 31.0 minutes, 11.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. He has now played in 65 games (29 starts) in his NBA career and he is averaging 25.2 minutes, 9.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. I like this signing for the T-Wolves as Tolliver is still young and he has a nice upside.
